Real Women Have Curves

It’s the summer of 1987 in Los Angeles’ Boyle Heights, and Ana wants to blaze her own path. The first-generation child of Mexican immigrants, Ana is torn between a future at her family’s garment business and her dreams of college in New York. If she breaks from her parents’ vision for her life, can she still honor the sacrifices that have allowed her to dream? Based on the play by Josefina López that inspired the hit film by Josefina López and George LaVoo, this new musical tells an uplifting story for anyone who has experienced the unexpected curves of life.

Directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Sergio Trujillo (Arrabal, Ain’t Too Proud, Jersey Boys), Real Women Have Curves features a book by award-winning playwright Lisa Loomer (Roe; The Waiting Room; Girl, Interrupted) with an original score by Grammy-winning recording artist Joy Huerta (from world-renowned Mexican pop duo Jesse and Joy) and Fred Ebb Award winner Benjamin Velez (Kiss My Aztec).

GUN & POWDER is a new musical inspired by the true story of Mary and Martha Clarke, African American twin sisters who take extraordinary measures to settle their mother’s sharecropper debt and save her home.

In 1893 Texas, the Sisters Clarke—passing as white—embarkon a remarkable Wild West adventure that examines race, family, and identity with two electrifying women who transformed from farm girls to outlaws to legends.

In 1968, Barry and Fran Weissler established National Artists Management Company, Inc.(NAMCO), an entertainment production company based in New York City. They have nearly 50 years of experience developing, financing, casting, managing, marketing, licensing and consulting for first class theatrical ventures on Broadway and the West End as well as touring domestically and internationally.

The Weisslers are the winners of seven Tony Awards: Othello, the Weissler’s Broadway debut starring James Earl Jones and Christopher Plummer; Fiddler on the Roof with Topol; Gypsy with Tyne Daly; Annie Get Your Gun with Bernadette Peters and Reba McEntire; the worldwide hit, Chicago; the 2010 revival of La Cage Aux Folles with Kelsey Grammer; and the 2013 revival of Pippin starring Patina Miller and Andrea Martin.
